He Grabs Mic During Brother’s Funeral, Leaves Room In Tears With Chilling “You Raise Me Up”

It might not be evident right away from all the bickering and fighting that goes on as kids, but few relationships in the world are as amazing and enduring as that of siblings.

Like a god-given friendship, brothers and sisters are a lifelong support that can carry us through anything! So just imagine the pain when that bond is broken prematurely!

Yvonne Lund Moller Petersen, mother of two sons and a daughter, has always been very proud of her kids and how well they got along in their adult lives. But, when one of her sons passed away tragically at the tender age of 24, nothing in the world seemed right.

The loss was especially hard for the remaining two siblings who had counted on their older brother to be a permanent fixture of support and laughter in their life.

However, in these moments of great loss also comes the realization that we are more resilient than we once believed. And for Yvonne this meant watching her son and daughter remind her that memories of their older brother will always carry them through.

While the right words are hard to come up with in these situations, the younger brother decided that Josh Groban’s Raise Me Up was the right place to start.

“When I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be; Then I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.”

Standing in the back of the small church, and looking at his brother’s white casket, he not only sang the original lyrics but also added his own leaving not a single dry eye in the room:

“… there is no life without you brother, it’s not the same without you by my side, we were always there for each other, and now you are gone …”
